DEPTH OF FIELD
This photo is a great example of depth of field. It was published by Al Hannigan. The beetle and part of the flower is very very sharp compared to the rest. it really makes you focus on the beetle and all the different colours on it. The contrast against the bright yellow flower really stands out. The photographer used a big aperture to get this effect.

  1. It's a great example of the use of depth of field - i.e a shallow depth of field. Depth of field is very shallow on macro (extreme close-up) photographs.
